We had an amazing amount of abstracts submitted this year and it made working out which ones to approve a very tough task. We only have 24 slots to fill and I had to get help from some very good friends who are amazingly skilled in their field to help me with the selections.

This year we have some 13 IBM ICS Champions speaking and some first time speakers too.

Our Gold sponsors are being announced next week too.

It's shaping up to look like a fantastic conference.

Here at ICON UK we really value the support and help that our sponsors give us and it's great news that we can announce this year's Platinum Sponsor is,

INTEC SYSTEMS

We are delighted to announce that Intec are on board this year and both Intec and ICON UK look forward to bringing you a great event in September.

"At Intec we collaborate with our clients, bringing together business insight, significant experience and technology to provide a distinct advantage in today’s rapidly changing business environment.

We also have a dedicated IBM Software Licence Manager who will be happy to answer any questions and provide pro-active advice on the most suitable licence model for your business.

We look forward to meeting and talking to you on the 12th of September."

More sponsors will be announced shortly.

Registration is open for ICON UK 2014.

To attend ICON UK you must register here so that we know you are coming.

Attendees, speakers and sponsors all need to be registered to attend the event. But be quick as we have a limited number of spaces this year. Be first and get a seat at the UK's premier Independent IBM software event.

If you registered last year, then all you need to do is log back in (can you remember your password?) and then select to attend our 2014 event. New users will need to create a new account, but that's not onerous.

If you are interested in sponsoring then please email sponsors@iconuk.org and we will return your email with a Sponsor information pack.

Calling all speakers, please submit your abstracts. We will close abstract submission on 30th June, so you have 2 months to get them all in. We have four tracks this year, Management/Strategy, Development, Admin and Open Source. Our new track will be about Open Source technologies and how they work/interact with IBM Collaboration Services technologies.

Looking forward to seeing you all in London in September.

If you're anything like this year's organising team you had a tear in your eye when it was announced that ICON UK 2013 would not continue into 2014. We couldn't let that happen, so we've picked up the baton and are running with it.

ICON UK will take place on the 12th of September 2014, in the IBM Southbank Customer Center.

Join us and up to 200 other IBM professionals to learn, network, share experiences and highlight best practices through 4 tracks. There's a wide range of technical sessions including some of the latest developments presented by some of the leading speakers in the global IBM community. It's only rarely that you get so many excellent speakers in one place outside of Connect.

Registration for ICON UK 2014 will open in May.

Thankyou to everyone who came to our ICON UK 2013 conference on the 2nd and 3rd September.

This event would not have been possible since 2005 without two very special people Terresa and Warren Elsmore, who we would like to thank for all their efforts for these events, and others, over the past years. If you catch up with them anywhere, please be sure to buy them a drink. ;o)

Can we also extend our thanks to Cardiff University who provided a great venue for UKLUG 2012. An IBM customer themselves, Cardiff University gave us a great presentation in London, all the way back in 2008. Now we have returned the favour by bringing UKLUG to Cardiff.

As Paul Mooney blogged 'it checked all the boxes: Energetic, fun, engaging and content-rich'. We had a great turnout with a lot of old friends and also new faces amongst the attendees. The Manchester Museum Of Science And Industry was an excellent venue where we presented over 30 great sessions.

Thankyou to everyone who joined us in Manchester and made it such a great event. Further thanks to Ted Stanton IBM WW Exec for Software Solutions for a great keynote, and thanks to our excellent speakers. We would also like to give a special thankyou to our sponsors who made UKLUG 2011 possible.

We have now had four UKLUG conference events which have proved to be a real success. You can get some idea of their impact from this feedback from Manchester and our previous Edinburgh conference:

"First let me say, fantastic work by the UKLUG organizers and crazy hard workers. They did a fantastic job again.  Great location, great sponsors and great organization." Carl Tyler
"It was another great UK Lotus User Group in Edinburgh. Very well organised, by some great volunteers, and excellent value as it was free to attend" Paul Farris
"UKLUG is done for another year, and what a fantastic conference it was. Warren, Kitty and the rest of “Team Amazing” did the unthinkable yet again. I honestly have no idea how these guys manage to put on such superb events, and for free too" Ben Poole
